My work involves advising both public and private companies on a broad range of business matters and acting as external general counsel for a number of companies.
I work closely with both private and publicly listed companies on a range of corporate and commercial transactions, providing astute and commercial legal advice.
My clients rely on me – and I work hard to understand their business.
I believe that a legal adviser can be most effective if they have a good understanding of their clients' businesses.
With a background in-house and as an investment banker, I understand where clients are coming from. Legal advice not only needs to be technically correct, it needs to be useful.
My working philosophy is “entirely solutions-oriented” but I also take a “whole of business approach” not just a legal approach.
I believe that the reason clients ask me to work on their projects is that they want a teammate, someone who complements their experience and understanding of their business with legal skills and expertise that helps their business become more successful.
The best solutions to legal questions do not come from simply applying legal principles to a situation that is not understood with great clarity.
The work that I undertake with clients is across the spectrum of M&A, corporate and commercial transactions. I bring the additional perspective gained through investing a significant part of my career working on the client side of transactions holding executive roles from corporate development and strategy to line management with P&L responsibility.
My stance on negotiating major transactions is to always be aware of our client’s objectives, while also recognising that such transactions are not a competition.
My aim as a lawyer is to assist clients achieve the outcomes they want and to deliver advice that plays a practical role in assisting them with their everyday business challenges and opportunities.
My practice tends to focus upon initial public offerings, capital raisings and mergers and acquisitions.

Being dually qualified in German and Australian law puts me in a unique position to advise European companies on their investments and business activities in Australia.
The combination of working as an in-house counsel and as a lawyer in private practice has equipped me with a comprehensive understanding of the needs and objectives of my clients.
In my practice, my clients look to me for strategic corporate advice in relation to mergers and acquisitions transactions, public and private capital raisings, corporate restructures and making investments into Australia, as well as day to day commercial advice.
I provide practical advice and solutions that make life easy for modern businesses. For example, I lead our firm’s cyber security alliance with technical and crisis management experts to deliver a holistic cyber security solution. My specialties are corporate, M&A and commercial law.
My practice principally involves public and private mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and strategic corporate advice.
