I do not believe that all client needs are all the same, nor are they necessarily similar.
My work involves advising both public and private companies on a broad range of business matters and acting as external general counsel for a number of companies.
I work closely with both private and publicly listed companies on a range of corporate and commercial transactions, providing astute and commercial legal advice.
My clients rely on me – and I work hard to understand their business.
I believe that a legal adviser can be most effective if they have a good understanding of their clients' businesses.
With a background in-house and as an investment banker, I understand where clients are coming from. Legal advice not only needs to be technically correct, it needs to be useful.
My working philosophy is “entirely solutions-oriented” but I also take a “whole of business approach” not just a legal approach.

My work involves advising on some of the most significant and high profile development projects in Australia. My expertise spans property and infrastructure development; mining and resources; planning, environmental and administrative law matters.
I believe that the reason clients ask me to work on their projects is that they want a teammate, someone who complements their experience and understanding of their business with legal skills and expertise that helps their business become more successful.
I don’t manage the message that my clients are seeking to publish. Rather, I work closely with my clients, including executives, creative staff and reporters to find a way to allow them to publish in a way which lessens any risk.
The best solutions to legal questions do not come from simply applying legal principles to a situation that is not understood with great clarity.
The focus of my work is enabling the business of my clients. While I advise clients in a number of areas of law and from different industry groups, the overriding objective that guides my work is to ensure that my clients can do business within an environment of minimum risk while fully exploiting their intellectual property and inherent competitive advantages.
The objective that drives my litigation practice is to keep my clients out of Court wherever possible and to seek an alternative to litigation.
The work that I undertake with clients is across the spectrum of M&A, corporate and commercial transactions. I bring the additional perspective gained through investing a significant part of my career working on the client side of transactions holding executive roles from corporate development and strategy to line management with P&L responsibility.
My stance on negotiating major transactions is to always be aware of our client’s objectives, while also recognising that such transactions are not a competition.
Underpinning the overall approach to my work is the fact that I truly appreciate the privileged and trusted position I am given in advising my clients.

My aim as a lawyer is to assist clients achieve the outcomes they want and to deliver advice that plays a practical role in assisting them with their everyday business challenges and opportunities.
As a litigator in the media and intellectual property practice, I advise clients on all issues relating to publication of content from pre-publication clearances covering defamation, contempt, copyright, privacy and reporting restrictions across all media platforms including press, television, radio, internet and social media.
One of my key strengths is my tenacity. I strive for the best outcome possible for my clients, whether it is advice work or litigation. I want them to achieve their objectives as much as they do. My clients trust me as part of their team.
Commercial litigation has been the focus of my work since 1997 and this has equipped me with broad experience advising and appearing for clients in commercial disputes and litigation.

I provide practical advice and solutions that make life easy for modern businesses. For example, I lead our firm’s cyber security alliance with technical and crisis management experts to deliver a holistic cyber security solution. My specialties are corporate, M&A and commercial law.
