The role of regulatory compliance is central to the ongoing management of risk for any business activity. In this constantly evolving environment of business regulation it is essential for legal advisers to maintain a solutions orientation with their clients based upon a whole of business approach. This is the philosophy of the Addisons Competition and Antitrust team.

The combination of our deep understanding of the relevant legislation with experience in the interpretation of issues that our clients may face means that we develop the most effective strategies for negotiating with regulatory bodies such as the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission.

Our team has significant experience in advising the owners of major international brands on both Australian domestic issues as well as international matters. Particularly we have acted on merger matters for Australian aspects of international transactions as well as representing clients in relation to allegations of anti-competitive conduct with effect in Australia.

Industry specific knowledge, such as industry structure and the major players, is also a significant advantage we bring to clients in the consumer sector, having acted for clients such as Coca-Cola Australia, Colgate-Palmolive, Hill’s Pet Nutrition and Sanitarium Health and Wellbeing Company.

Our services include:

  • advice on all aspects of the Competition and Consumer Act

  • strategic advice on dealing with the ACCC and other regulatory bodies

  • liaison with and representation before the ACCC, including preparation and lodging of applications for authorisation and notification

  • advising and representing clients in ACCC investigations

  • advising and representing clients in applications to the ACCC for immunity
