I am an experienced Trade Marks Attorney and Lawyer with a particular focus on all aspects of matters before the Australian Trade Marks Office. My specialisation is in all aspects of trade mark law including Australian and overseas trade mark filings and prosecutions, filing strategies and trade mark portfolio management. Clients also seek my advice in respect of the creation, adoption, use and enforcement of trade marks as well as dealing with trade mark oppositions as well as on the commercial aspects of intellectual property including due diligence, assignments and licensing issues. My experience also includes design registrations as well as advice on labelling requirements, domain name and business name registrations.


I have worked in trade marks since 1995, initially as a Trade Marks Examiner with IP Australia, then as a Trade Marks Attorney with two large Australian firms and then with a boutique IP practice before joining Addisons in March 2011.

The Intellectual Property Laws Amendment (Raising the Bar) Act 2012 (the Act) comes into force on 15 April 2013. This will (among other changes): 1. implement significant changes to the practice applicable to both trade mark opposition and removals; 2. introduce new procedures relating to customs notices, 3. provide for higher penalties; and 4. allow the incorporation of trade marks attorneys.
