Martin has over 20 years' experience in a diverse range of commercial litigation matters, arbitrations and alternative dispute resolution techniques.
Martin's commercial litigation practice has involved him in representing clients in a number of high profile litigation disputes in both Victoria and New South Wales.
Martin's intellectual property practice includes advising clients in relation to all types of intellectual property disputes, including trade marks, patents, copyright, designs, passing off and confidential information. In the patent area, Martin regularly acts for international patent owners in appeals from the Patent Office, and in complex revocation and infringement proceedings before the Federal Court of Australia.
Martin is also a registered trade marks attorney and advises extensively in relation to brand protection issues. He has extensive experience in trade practices matters particularly involving the consumer protection provisions of the Trade Practices Act.
Martin was admitted as a solicitor in 1983. He became a partner of Norton Smith & Co in 1990 and subsequently with the international law firm Coudert Brothers, when they merged in 1999. In April 2005, he joined Addisons as a Partner. Martin was appointed a Notary Public in 2008.
