Jamie has extensive experience in the commercialisation of intellectual property. He has assisted many clients in the reorganisation, assessment and exploitation of intellectual property assets.
Among the recent matters on which Jamie has worked are:
- conducting assessments of intellectual property rights in connection with intellectual property valuations, joint ventures and company acquisitions
- negotiating and drafting patent and trade mark licences
- negotiating a point of sale system.
Jamie's knowledge of intellectual property extends across many industries from magazine publishing to retail, from fast moving consumer goods to manufacturing, and from multi-level marketing to financial institutions.
Jamie is recognised internationally as a leading expert in legal issues relating to the gambling industry in Australia and internationally. He advises all categories of operators within the gaming industry, including sports betting operators, gaming machine manufacturers, casino operators, and software suppliers, as well as leading gambling industry bodies. Jamie is the ex-Chair of the Sports and Gaming Committee of the International Bar Association and a Member of the International Masters of Gaming Law.
Jamie has extensive sports law expertise, having advised on all legal issues relating to sporting associations, as well as major sporting events, for many years. Currently, he is assisting the Australian Sports Commission in ensuring corporate governance compliance by national sporting organisations.
Jamie was admitted as a solicitor in Australia in 1984. He spent six years with a leading London firm and was previously a partner with a leading Australian and international partnership. In October 2004, he became a Partner in Addisons.
