Jeff specialises in corporate and commercial work including mergers and acquisitions, private equity and corporate governance advice.
Since joining the firm, Jeff has advised on schemes of arrangements, takeovers, IPOs with stapled security structures, secondary equity raisings, private equity investments, and provided advice to a number of company boards, both listed and unlisted.
Prior to joining the firm, Jeff spent 21 years with Mallesons Stephen Jaques, a pre-eminent commercial law firm in the Australian market, with over 15 years as a partner in the corporate and commercial section of that firm. As a partner of Mallesons Stephen Jaques, Jeff was involved in a number of major transactions and was a leader in the private capital section of that firm.
Jeff has advised a number of boards on corporate governance matters and has a particular interest in proper and effective corporate governance.
Jeff left Mallesons Stephen Jaques in November 2000 to join a client, Redfern Photonics Pty Limited, as its General Counsel and subsequently became its CEO. Redfern Photonics is a corporate venture capitalist that invests in companies in the photonics industry in Australia.
During his three years with Redfern Photonics, Jeff and the Redfern team raised over $220 million to invest in photonics technology. This was done through a series of transactions with US and Australian private venture capitalists.
Jeff became a Partner in Addisons in 2004.
